Happy Fathers Day! Beautiful Rat Records presents our FIFTH release, and FIRST partnership with another label- Songs for Dads!

Here you will find a collection of tracks from a seventeen different artist and bands, in a whole slew of different styles, covering songs that your dad might like! Even better, ALL of the money goes to an excellent cause- The Prevent Cancer Foundation!

While the release of this comp might just so happen to very conveniently fall upon Fathers Day, that is not the reason for putting this out today. Last year, Ska Punk International wanted to find a few artist to cover a song that their mom may have liked to put out on his podcast. That idea turned into Songs for Moms, a compilation of songs to spread awareness and raise money for cancer research. The date of June 19th was specifically chosen to honor the anniversary of his own mother passing away to cancer, and to help people, and do something positive with that grief. The first Songs for Moms raised SIXTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS for cancer research! That is $1,600 for people who like numbers!

At the end of last year, Chris from SPI reached out to me to tell me about how so many people loved Songs for Moms, but they were also asking about the dads of the world. He asked me if I would like to partner up with him, and release Songs for Dads to coincide with Ska Punk Internationals release of Songs for Moms vol. 2. Without even needing to think I very excitedly said "Of course!" Ska Punk International is a label that I have been a fan of since it conception and have looked up to as what a cool label can be! I am beyond honored to be able to be a part of a project so personal, and also incredibly thankful for the opportunity to do this. The cool chance to put out cool music isn't the only reason I agreed to this project though. So many of us have lost someone to cancer. I myself have watched family succumb to this terrible disease, and can see the effect that it can not only on those affected, but those around them as well.

I want to dedicate this release to a number of people.

First and foremost- this is for Chris's mom, and for all of the other parents in the world who have passed away from cancer. This is also for my own father, who has always played cool music, always taken me to many shows and concerts, who has helped cultivate the love for music that I have today. This is for all of those out there who no longer have a father in their life for one reason or another. Sometimes dads suck, so this is for those with sucky dads. Sometimes they leave, so this is for those with left dads. Sometimes they pass, and this is for the ones who have fathers who have passed. This is also for all of the fathers alive, and still care and love for the children they had, the children they found, or the children they raised. This is songs for the dadless, dadfull, and the fathers in the world.
